Using Ziplet to run your best PD session yet

Collecting feedback from other teachers will make sure your next professional development session is a sure-fire hit

The key to an effective PD session

So, you're planning a PD session! You've focused on putting together relevant content for your colleagues and bringing something of real value to their professional development.

But will you know if your session hit the mark?

Capturing authentic feedback from your peers ensures you understand how your PD was received, and is critical for future PD planning and execution.

1. Create a new GO! Class

Log in to Ziplet to create a class and name it after your PD session.

Ziplet automatically generates a 6-digit pin that you can share with your colleagues for them to answer your questions.

2. Ask the right questions

Asking attendees to rate different aspects of the PD, or answer open questions about the session, will ensure you capture honest, authentic feedback.
Here are some ideas:
  • How relevant was this session to your teaching needs?

  • Do you feel confident applying the concepts we discussed to your classroom?

  • What support or resources do you need to implement the strategies discussed?

  • How would you rate the pacing of the material presented?

đź’ˇ Top Tip

Make use of the different response types in Ziplet to gather better feedback.
Scale responses provide numerical data you can track over time to measure the improvement in future sessions
Text responses are perfect for asking open questions that spark insights
Matrix responses are an effective way to get a rating on different elements from your session

3. Review your responses

Once your colleagues have responded to your Ziplet questions, it's time to analyze.

First, take note of any patterns and themes that arise from the feedback.

Then, compare the responses with your objectives. What were your goals for the session, and did your audience indicate that you achieved them?

Finally, identify the actionable insights. What did you learn from the feedback about how you could improve your next session?
